Cards & Borrowing
RESIDENTS
Individuals living within the limits of the East Dubuque Library District (which is the same as the East Dubuque School District) may obtain a library card which is good for three years
- Apply in person and complete the Library form
- Present a current Illinois Driver’s License or State photo ID, or Federal photo ID showing residency
- Parents or Legal Guardians must apply in person for a child’s card
NON RESIDENTS
Individuals living out of state wishing to purchase a non-resident card which is good for one year.
- Apply in person and complete the Library form
- Pay the annual non-resident fee
Individual nonresidents that own real property in the East Dubuque Library District
- Apply in person and complete the Library form
- Present real property taxes showing payment to the East Dubuque District Library
- Owner must show proof of residence in an area not served by a system member library, so that duplicate records are not created in the database.
RECIPROCAL CARDS FROM OTHER LIBRARIES
An Individual with a valid library card from another Illinois Public Library within the RAILS System (“Reaching Across Illinois Library Systems”) may checkout materials from our library.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF CARDHOLDERS
Cardholders are responsible for all materials borrowed on their card and their children’s cards.
Materials must be returned in a timely manner and in the same conditions as when the materials were borrowed. Overdue notices are sent only as a courtesy. Patrons are responsible for the timely return of all materials whether or not they receive overdue notices.
There are no age restrictions on borrowing materials from the library. Parents or legal guardians are responsible for monitoring the materials used by their children.
